Dreadful practice , they NEVER read letters sent to them by my consultants , didn't read discharge letter following a recent stay in hospital . These letters are often asking the GP to do things as part of my treatment for a chronic illness , i receive copies of the letters , i leave it a couple of weeks to see if they contact me and then i ring them to point out that my consultant had asked for something to be done . My discharge letter suggested i have a heart trace for 5 days , when i eventually got to speak to a doctor he said he didn't think it necessary , i had a blood test which hasn't been followed up and was told to check my blood pressure on the machine in reception . My Renal consultant requested two things in march , haven't heard from the surgery about those . Hospital asked them to review my medication , not been done and so i have stopped taking one medication as i am unsure if i should take it . I am going to complain about this surgery . I will tell my consultants when i see them in may that they may aswell stop writing to my gp it's a waste of time . I asked the surgery if they would help me with a benefits appeal a few months ago , they refused saying that it's just a matter of opinion as to whether i am fit for work or not , that comment proves that they don't read letters from my consultants and have no idea what my health problems are . And as for waters meeting the dreaded place you have to go to if you are ill out of hours , i nearly died in 2011 when a doctor there said i had an ear infection and sent me home with a prescription for amoxicillin , a couple of hours later my son found me unconscious , 6 hours after that the hospital rang my children telling them to come back to the hospital as they didn't think I was going to make it , i had Meningitis . I had told the GP i saw about surgery i had had previously for an acoustic neuroma and problems with leaks of fluid from the brain and still he just said it was an ear infection , i also have an autoimmune disease which makes any infection serious , all that was ignored . I have no faith in gps at all i just thank god i see consultants regularly because of my illness .
